Emergency DIY
You never know when you might be required to undertake emergency DIY. The key to a fast and efficient solution is to purchase a small number of essential items, and to store these in logical locations around the home. We recommend the following preparations:
Always keep small tools and spares, such as a bleed key for radiators, electrical test screwdriver, fuse wire and pliers, in a small kitchen drawer. This will save time finding your tool box for small jobs and prevent panic when a fuse blows.
Don't forget to return them to the drawer after use though!
Buy a small (20cm x 30cm) sectioned storage box (available from Mitre 10 stores) and purchase a selection of fuses (3 amp, 5 amp, 13 amp), double and single hooks, curtain hooks and a roll of insulation tape (black). These are some of the most common items used in every home. Place these items in a kitchen drawer, as above.
Keep a torch by the fuse board with a packet of spare batteries. If the lights go out you will always have to go to the fuse board, so you'll know where to find the torch.
Remember the teams at Mitre 10 Blacktown & The Rental Depot are contactable 7 days a week. Your emergency and headaches can quickly be relieved by seeking the right advice from our professional staff.
